TrueBeat are an eight-legged skanking machine storming the forefront of
the UK Ska Rock scene.
Forming in late 2008 they have racked up over a hundred shows since
that time with bands like JB Conspiracy, Bad Manners, Catch-it Kebabs and
The Beat. Raising the roof in venues all over the country from Cornwall to
Yorkshire, London to Lincolnshire, it s what TrueBeat exists to do.
In 2009 the boys recorded their debut album with producer TimG (famed for
his work with the Catch-it Kebabs, Sonic Boom Six and MTV Mash-ups) and
released it in August that year to critical acclaim. Kevin Flowerdew,
owner of the famous Do The Dog Records label said it was A strong
contender for debut album of the year and rated it his fourth favourite
release of the 2009.

POPES OF CHILLITOWN are a six piece BritSka Indie band from London, forged
many moons ago from the tentative beginnings of late-night jam sessions
between friends. The band have burst onto the London gig scene in few
years with a host of performances at many well-respected venues, including
the legendary London Astoria and Hackney Empire.
But a straight up British Ska band they are not. Blending genres and each
of the members influences makes for a unique sound and a breath of fresh
air from generic bands that make generic music for fear of punters not
getting it . A typical POPES OF CHILLITOWN show boasts soaring vocals,
orgasmic guitars, sexy sax solos, banging Ska beats and chunky basslines
thrown in for good measure. Expect SKA, ROCK, INDIE, REGGAE, DUB, DRUM AND
BASS and much more.

Local support, BSN [4:20] started back in 2006 as a 3 (Ladystix, The
Doctor & Dogman aka Major Travis T) piece and played a couple of
shows. In 2007 they became a 4 piece when Matthew Bridge edged his way
into the band (originally playing keys). Their first gig was
ironically on 20 April 2007 at Katie Fitzgeralds. BSN [4:20] gigged
North, South, East and West during 2007 and 2008 and recorded 16
tracks in this time, until they annouced there final gig due to Bridge
leaving for Bahrain in October 2008. It was held at Katie Fitzgeralds
and was an emotional gig both high and low. The end. But no, they
decided to do one last show at christmas upon a visit home from
Bridge, then they reformed in April 2009 recorded a bunch of new
tracks and August 2009 started gigging again. The story will continue
as this July they are playing the main stage at Nozstock, doing some
recording, AND supporting Truebeat and the Popes of Chillitown!!!

As you can see from the variety of bands, we cover every type of music
but still keep the quality top notch...... and by keeping the quality
up we have slowly but surely gained peoples trust nationwide, as they
know whoever plays at The Marr's Bar, whatever style of music, it's
going to be a bit special. We are also trying to be one of the few
venues left in the country not to succumb to the current tirade of
tribute bands who whilst I have no real problem with them, I do feel
they have help to stifle originality for long enough - and there are
enough Chicago
Rock type venues out there for them all to make a comfortable
living.
What we look for is signed and unsigned originality of the quality
that makes you wonder why you don't see their music on sale in HMV
- or hear them on the radio - or catch their latest video on Top of
the Pops....... well you can blame Pete Waterman and yes, tribute
bands - and the whole Pop Idol craze in general. Anyway, I'm gonna
fall off my soap box in a minute...........
