Scroll down for a rake of information that answers many FAQ's....

Situated in the city centre of historic Worcester, this former dance studio still has the original sprung dance floors put in place back in 1958 adding a woody texture to the sound quality of the room. After an extensive 14 month renovation/conversion we have ended up with a venue that musicians have designed with the musician in mind, so bands really enjoy themselves when they play here - and as a result, always give a better performance. We have a 5k in house sound system, in house lighting rig and in house sound engineers. There is also a recording studio on the top floor.

The executive balcony is available for Hen nights, Stag parties, Corporate Entertaining and album launches.

The marr's bar is an over 18 music venue. The only way to get in if you are under 18 is with a junior membership. to become a junior member you must pay £5 for the year, get a passport size photo and fill in this form

There is a train station a taxi rank and a bus stop all within 2 minutes walk and we have a number of links to all sorts of accommodation near by to suit most wallets.

What's On This Week?

Thursday 3rd
Comedy Zone Presents:-
Russell Howard

Aged just 19 Russell plotted himself on the comedy map by getting to the final of Channel 4's So You Think Your Funny? competition in only his fifth ever gig. Since then, things have been pretty hectic…
Russell has been busy cementing his place as one of the hottest properties in comedy with his BBC6 Music show every Sunday, loads of Mock The Week and Never Mind The Buzzcocks on BBC2, Would I Lie To You? and Live At The Apollo on BBC1, Law of the Playground on Channel 4 and Tough Gig, The Brits and The British Comedy Awards on ITV, phew…tiring.
But it is on stage where Russell really storms it. A complete sell out at Edinburgh 2004-2006 Russell sold every ticket of his 2007 run before the Festival had even started and couldn't add extra dates fast enough. His first nationwide solo tour of if.comedy and Barry Award nominated show 'Wandering' was a complete sell out success.

Official Receivers

These lads first got together to just knock out a few tunes, have a good time and maybe do a few gigs, nowadays, 16 years later they are an extremely hard working band, gigging consistently and booked up for months and months to come, and all that hard work pays dividends as you experience the inabililty to keep your feet still as a result of the non stop soul assault you are treated to. When it comes to delivering a high-energy Stax/Alantic-based show the Official Receivers have no equal.

Jimmy Nylon & Friends

They have a unique sound and bags of energy on stage, and have been described as a cross between the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers with powerful vocals, original and catchy guitar interplay and funky bass. Jimmy Nylon have already made a name for themselves playing shows with Nizlopi and Spider Simpson and completing a mini tour of the midlands.

Sunday 6th
Dan Haynes

"If you like Paul Simon, Jack Johnson or Damien Rice then you'll love this..."
With the majority of Dan’s recorded work being bare acoustic his live set had little need for anything other than a solo voice and guitar. However after meeting 'Corda' front man Robin Groucutt, a pianist, bassist, and percussionist and generally excellent musician, Dan found himself with fuller sound to play with than before. Taken in by this sound Dan spent the back end of last year writing and recording songs that would really make the most of the extra sounds now at his disposal. Dan's second album ‘Fruit from the Tree’ is due out this year. The first single we'll hear is 'Stung' which is out in August and from the sound bite above it sounds as though it'll be well worth the wait.
I strongly advise you listen to their music online now.

Only in existence since March 2000 with live music six and sometimes seven nights a week - catering for every genre, The Marr's Bar is known as the best venue of it's size in the country attracting acts such as:- All About Eve, Amor, Antiproduct, Bad Manners, Bowling for Soup, The B Movie Heroes, Connie Lush and Blues Shouter, Cousteau, Dead Men Walking, Dubmerge, Dumpy's Rusty Nuts, Cubana Bop, Earthtone 9, Four Star Mary, Geno Washington, Gordon Giltrap, Hamsters, Jackie Levens, Kava Kava, Kangaroo Moon, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, King Prawn, Landmine Spring, Lightening Willie and the Poorboys, Matt Dieghton (Paul Weller's Guitarist), Mark Flanagan (Jool's Holland's guitarist), Mike Sanchez, New Blood, Nick Harper, Otis Grand, Omar and the Howlers, Parkers Alibi, Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes, Paul Young, Phil Jupitus with The Blockheads, [Spunge], Spear of Destiny, The Bluefoot Project, The Bushbury's, The Damned, The Levellers, The Selecter, The Yardbirds, Tim Rose, Tony McPhee and The Groundhogs, Tribute to Nothing, Wilko Johnson, Zion Train, 4' Fingers, and even the now legendry 36 Stone along with a myriad of other bands, some of which have recorded live albums direct from stage on the ground floor to our recording studio on the top floor called Mint Music.

As you can see from the variety of bands, we cover every type of music but still keep the quality top notch...... and by keeping the quality up we have slowly but surely gained peoples trust nationwide, as they know whoever plays at The Marr's Bar, whatever style of music, it's going to be a bit special. We are also trying to be one of the few venues left in the country not to succumb to the current tirade of tribute bands who whilst I have no real problem with them, I do feel they have help to stifle originality for long enough - and there are enough Chicago Rock type venues out there for them all to make a comfortable living.

What we look for is signed and unsigned originality of the quality that makes you wonder why you don't see their music on sale in HMV - or hear them on the radio - or catch their latest video on Top of the Pops....... well you can blame Pete Waterman and yes, tribute bands - and the whole Pop Idol craze in general. Anyway, I'm gonna fall off my soap box in a minute...........
