The Task In Hand & Surprise Attacks team up to celebrate Independent Venue Week with an amazing line up :

SOEUR

Breaking hard-rock down to its simplest, most fundamental form, Sœur are a brutal, soulful assault on the senses. Bound together and battle-hardened by an experience & appreciation of the fringes of British rock music, Anya Pulver, Tina Maynard & James Collins have already found their incendiary live shows selling out in dive bars and clubs across their native South West. With vocal lines that tangle & intertwine, riffs so substantial they’ve got their own post code, and a beat – provided by former Maybeshewill drummer James Collins – that ties everything down with industrial power, this is a sound of colossal proportions.

NUNS OF THE TUNDRA

Having recently reached the final of nationwide competition Firestone’s Battle Of The Bands 2017, Nuns Of The Tundra have had an amazing year going from strength to strength, and show no sign of relenting for 2018.

“Sporting thunderous production, strong melodies, and leather swagger, they burst out on ‘Robot Love’ with an ever so slightly off kilter melody and more guitars than you can shake a big stick at.”

“Drawing on the idiosyncratic nature of Queens of the Stone Age and the melodic sensibilities of Stone Temple Pilots, new track ‘Mind’s Eye’ is a four minute blast of pure mainstream rock energy that has been sorely missing for, what, like at least a decade now.”

Jamie Coughlan // Overblown Blog

‘One of the most exciting up and coming bands from the UK’

NAVAJO ACE

Formed in 2016, Navajo Ace are quickly garnering themselves a reputation as an underground band making music with power and soul. The band combine a broad spectrum of influences, breathing new life into a sound somewhere between the grittier end of 90s college alt rock, shoegaze and Emo before it became a dirty word.

FIVE TURNINGS EP REVIEW:

“ Lyrically intelligent and engaging throughout, there is much to enjoy here: American 90’s Emo in the Texas Is The Reason vein, with added walls of shimmering shoegaze guitars. Infectious and richly harmonic college rock, this is stuff that lingers on after listening, and that – you can hope – promises much more to come. “ SLAP Magazine, August 2017

“ The EP is a strong statement of intent, the blend of Emo and Indie Rock is perfect. Navajo Ace are a bright spark in the current UK new music scene. Keep your eyes out for these guys, they’re going to be huge…” AltDialogue.com, August 2017

ESTEBAN

ESTEBAN describe themselves as a really good idea, math rock for people who like a dance. If they sound a lot easier to play than they are then we have done our job properly. Making many notes sound like a great time. They get hot and sweaty whilst relaying our anthems, but look at our faces, we really enjoy it.

AS MAMAS

As Mamas are a 2 piece psych rock n roll band from Evesham comprising Joe Devine on drums and Harrison Baird-Whitman on guitar and vocals.

They rehearse in a 1960’s caravan and have been together for around 3 years.

“The band’s set features a number of covers including a medley of The Stones ‘Jumping Jack Flash’ and Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstition’ and their own material

the best of which was ‘Ain’t It Sad’ which takes a swipe at Westminster parliamentarians. It’s good to see young bands writing lyrics with a bit of punch and I’d love to hear more of it. The highlight of the evening for me was their cover of ‘54-46 Was My Number’ by Toots and the Maytals. The band were totally invested in this and Harrison delivered his best and most animated vocal of the night” Herefordshire Live
