MOVING TARGETS (USA)
Legendary Boston band Moving Targets are back in the UK for the first time in over 25 years. Led by one of punk rock’s classic songwriters Kenny Chambers, they bring their timeless melodic punk sound, coinciding with a new Boss Tuneage LP release.
Founded in Boston, Massachusetts in the early 80’s hardcore punk scene, Moving Targets went their own way with their debut album “Burning In Water” in 1986. For fans of Hüsker Dü, The Lemonheads, Mission of Burma, Bullet Lavolta & Buffalo Tom, Moving Targets trailblazed their way through the 80’s & 90’s before Kenny Chambers went on to record several albums as a solo artist.
Unrelenting, melodic, drenched in emotion and at times explosive, we are delighted to welcome Moving Targets to Worcester.
ANOTHER FINE MESS
Another Fine Mess played their debut show in their hometown of Worcester, England in October 1990.
Keen to play anywhere and everywhere, over the next five years they gigged all over England, Northern Ireland and Wales, toured Germany four times and performed shows in Poland and Holland.
Along with headline dates, the band also supported The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers, UK Subs, 999, The Vibrators and GBH to name a few.
The album Million Smiles was released in 1992 and the band also had songs included on many compilation cassettes (you remember cassettes!) and CDs in the UK, Europe and Japan.
Having split in 1995, nothing was heard from AFM apart from a single headline show in Worcester in November 2005 and a standalone gig in Stourbridge in 2012.
Fast forward to 2017 and Another Fine Mess – with all the original members – reformed and played a number of fantastically received shows. Although everybody is busy in other bands, the plan is to continuing performing with Another Fine Mess.
In June 2018 Japan’s Fixing Hole Records released ‘Million Smile … And A Few Smile More’. A remastered, two-disc set, disc one features the original Million Smile album, while disc two rounds up all the band’s other recorded output.
They return to their roots in Worcester in October 2018 for this awesome show.
As was once printed on the band’s bright pink guitar plectrums, ‘Smile The Messies Love You!
Formed in 2016, Navajo Ace are quickly garnering themselves a reputation as an underground band making music with power and soul. The band combine a broad spectrum of influences, breathing new life into a sound somewhere between the grittier end of 90s college alt rock, shoegaze and Emo before it became a dirty word.
FIVE TURNINGS EP REVIEW:
“ Lyrically intelligent and engaging throughout, there is much to enjoy here: American 90’s Emo in the Texas Is The Reason vein, with added walls of shimmering shoegaze guitars. Infectious and richly harmonic college rock, this is stuff that lingers on after listening, and that – you can hope – promises much more to come. “ SLAP Magazine, August 2017
“ The EP is a strong statement of intent, the blend of Emo and Indie Rock is perfect. Navajo Ace are a bright spark in the current UK new music scene. Keep your eyes out for these guys, they’re going to be huge…”AltDialogue.com, August 2017
A bunch of free-thinking, rock n roll survivalists came together in Worcester and produced a plethora of gorgeous, chin-out songs.
Honing their craft, fittingly, in an attic studio above a notorious watering-hole (overlooking their home town of Worcester), they’re great lads but they ain’t here to take nonsense off anyone!
Reminiscent of the Kinks, 13th Floor Elevators and sharing elements of your other favourite classic bands. They write a hell of a tune and have a great stage presence to boot.
