European Awards Bluesman returns to Marrs

Following appearances by Catfish, Virgil & the Accelerators and Gwyn Ashton; Bluesman Mike Francis will be the fourth European Blues Awards finalist to play at the Marrs Bar in recent times. With his latest personal story show covering over well 40 years working with likes of Greg Lake and many Blues & Soul legends, Mike will also be touring and playing festivals in Germany and Croatia as well as the UK this season. A veteran of 25 British R&B Festival appearances it is actually Merseyside based Mike’s 2nd time at the venue having been on the bill with the legendary Larry Miller in December 2014.

Bluesman Mike Francis was a finalist in the 2013 European Blues Awards along with Canada’s Matt Andersen and Seasick Steve. More recently he has taken on the role of being UK events coordinator for the awards team and is delighted to be back at the Worcestershire venue where he so enjoyed his last visit and reports

As I am originally from the region  I’m really looking forward to being back to see some familiar faces as well as performing to quite a few new ones. Had a great time playing Europe’s voted number one, Upton Blues Festival last summer too

Rolling Stones biographer Martin Elliott is quoted as saying “If Woody Guthrie and Robert Johnson were alive today they’d probably sound like this guy” about Mike. The best way to find out for yourself is to get along to the Marrs Bar Worcester 8pm Thursday 31st May where he will be performing new material from upcoming release ‘What side of the cactus are you on?’ along with many old favourites. Completing the bill are the Swampchamps.
