The Sunlight Machine (8.30 – 9.15)

The Sunlight Machine is an alt-rock/indie/emo/math duo with heavy drums, low-fi guitars, and vocals that sound like they’ve been dragged through gravel.
Influences such as QOTSA, Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys, Manchester Orchestra, and Pulled Apart By Horses have found their way into the bands unique songwriting style and sound.
Cameron Yazdi and Darrell Mayo started ‘The Sunlight Machine’ after melting through band lineups that barely stuck together past 3 covers. Since then the band has honed it’s sound and songwriting practicing nearly daily and performing for friends in their Nuneaton based living room/studio/stage.
Raw emotion, authentic messages, and intimate lyrics are at the heart of The Sunlight Machine’s music and on stage this translates into a powerful energy. Cameron Yazdi (guitar and vocals) said:
the name ‘The Sunlight Machine’ comes from a device you can get when you have seasonal depression, it emits a light that tricks your brain into thinking the sun is shining and it helps you heal. It’s a mixture of technology and humanity – we thought it was the perfect metaphor for our music; raw materials being used to heal people, help them connect and get through things they might not be able to alone. We want to fill our audience with energy and make them smile when the world looks dark.
After the release of their debut EP ‘103 The Garage Incident’ which received airtime from BBC Introducing, The Sunlight Machine are working on their next record which is due out later this year (2018).

State of Ember (9.30-10.15)
Formed late on in 2016, Worcestershire-based State of Ember are a band creating a sound inspired by metal, punk and prog rock.
The band have had multiple tracks, including ‘Halo Divide’ and ‘Denial’ played on BBC Introducing so far, as well as being featured as a Spotlight Artist on ReverbNation for a week in May 2017. Their first E.P, ‘Clouded Views’ was released in September .
At the start of December 2017 they received news that their track ‘Denial’ had been selected to be featured on an upcoming PS4/Xbox One game, ‘Wreckfest’ scheduled for release in early 2018 (Bugbear Entertainment, THQ Nordic). The band are now looking to play across the UK (and beyond!) as much as possible, and will be recording their second E.P during the first half of 2018.
The Foreign Quarter 10.30-11.15
A 4 piece Hard Rock band from Worcestershire, creating original tracks with driving riffs, rocking vocals and screaming solos. They proved very popular when they played the Mappfest fundraiser in May, so we invited them back to do another.
