Michael Knowles And The STD’s

If you don’t know us where have you been?

With great age comes great experience and this would be true of Calm Like a Riot had they not had their heads up their own bungholes for the best part of a decade. The words “socially aware”, “political activists” and “new hope for the UK rap scene” have all been used but never with the prefix Calm Like a Riot are and there is good reason for that. These visibly awkward musicians have been plying their craft of indie rock based funk hip hop for nearly 10 years and have changed nothing not even their pants. So if you want to experience some totally awesome fun and non-pretentious musical carnage you have been warned.

Paarthurnax are a five piece rock band which was formed in late 2012 and who have been gigging regularly around the Black Country and the pubs and clubs of Herefordshire and Worcestershire since about mid-2013. We are something of a unique band as we cover music from the late 1960s through to the present day and which reflects the difference in the band members’ ages which range from 19 years old to early 60s and we also do a few of our own numbers/compositions which fit nicely into the rest of the set. We offer something quite different in that we have four accomplished singers in different styles from hard rock through to melodic operatic style music. The line up of the band is “Metal Millie” (keyboards/vocals), “Lucitania” (second guitar/vocals), “Pistol Pete” (lead guitar/vocals), “Iron Mike” (bassist/vocals) and, our recent addition the wonderful sticks man, Will, who only joined the band a few weeks ago but who has already had a significant input into our overall sound. Paarthurnax always creates a good vibe in the various venues we play and we are an energetic outfit who put 100% effort into our set from first song to last.
