Poetry in Numbers

Poetry In Numbers return to the Marr's Bar with local giants Nomad 67 and Tallulah Fix.
While Poetry In Numbers combine boundless and raw energy, the Alt. Punk four piece also deliver a calm and dreamy ambience with catchy and memorable hooks, and continue to build a strong and loyal fanbase.
Nomad 67 are no strangers to the Worcester music scene and have built up a huge reputation as being one of the most hard working and well known bands in the area. Putting on an energetic and exciting live show, they're definitely not one to miss.
Tallulah Fix mix the spirit of Blues and a dash of Grunge to form what they refer to as "Blunge". The combination of Lead singer, Rich Monk's gravelly vocals and the band's hard hitting riffs and basslines make the Malvern four piece a true Rock n Roll band.

She has also toured in Asia, Russia, Europe and the States.
Amy Wadge and Pete Riley first came together a little over two years ago to do some writing together. They immediately clicked and after many years as solo artists or as members of various bands, they decided to collaborate and have been touring, writing and recording together ever since. Together they penned an album's worth of material and have now decided to release it. The new album, "Rivers Apart", which they have also co-produced, is set for release on March 17, 2011 to coincide with their brand new UK Tour.
Amy returns to the road after a year out to have a second baby. She is widely regarded as one of the country's most successful female singer/songwriters. Over the course of five solo albums, two collaborations, numerous compositions for other artists and hundreds of live performances all over the globe, she has established an outstanding body of work. Her voice is simply amazing with a breathtaking range and emotional impact while her songwriting continues to surpass most of her contemporaries. 'An irresistible, riveting performer' - Bob Harris, BBC Radio2
Pete Riley, recently returned to his native Liverpool, after spending some ten years touring the States with the iconic American artist, Edwin McCain and with his own band, 'Treehouse' before that. Sean Taylor has rapidly grown to be one of the hottest new names in the UK blues/acoustic scene. His incredible passion for performance, sheer talent and songwriting of the highest calibre is a testament to his frequent comparisons with John Martyn, Chris Isaak and Tom Waits.
He has had extensive coverage in publications such as 'Uncut', 'Maverick', 'Classic Rock', 'Acoustic Guitar Magazine' and 'Rock N' Reel' to name but a few, and has recently been accredited by BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris and featured on his show twice consecutively. He has recently been asked to return for a live studio session in December.
The past year has seen Sean play at a score of festivals, including three stages at Glastonbury, Blue Balls in Lucerne, Tolpuddle Martyrs, Tenby Blues and Broadstairs Folk Week. As well as headline gigs across the UK, Sean has toured Switzerland and played support slots for the likes of Neville Brothers, George Benson, John Fogarty (Creedence Clearwater), Band of Horses, The Groundhogs and Chickenshack. After selling out of CD's at Cambridge Folk Festival 2010, showcasing at Celtic Connections and being booked for Glastonbury 2011 already, Sean's future looks very bright indeed.
Sean's fourth album 'Walk With Me' was released in July and has been steadily getting incredible reviews in all major press. The album was produced by Trevor Hutchinson (Lúnasa, Sharon Shannon, The Waterboys), and features pedal steel legend BJ Cole as well as a stellar array of other musicians including Vyvienne Long (Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan) and Dave Hingerty (The Frames, Josh Ritter).

Fred Zeppelin

The four members of Fred Zeppelin are real fans, and formed ‘The Freds’ out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music. As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Bonzo.
According to one of Kerrangs readers polls. FRED ZEPPELIN are among the top ten best live bands to see. Quite an achievement, as they were the only tribute band listed in any category. Its worth taking a camera with you, as you don’t know who could be standing next to you. In the audience have been MAGNUM’s front-man Bob Catley, WHITESNAKE’s guitarist Mel Galley, who attended on recommendation - “Thought I would come and see you, as Robert (Plant) said you were brilliant”. Roy Wood legendary main man of THE MOVE & WIZZARD, and SLADES Jimmy Lea was the latest rock celebrity to experience a two-hour Fred Zeppelin gig.
Fred Zeppelin were invited by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. Kev (former bassist) and Blackie (drums) attended and were thrilled to meet and chat with the legendary guitarist. Also at the party were Roger Daltrey, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leo Sayer and Formula One’s David Coultard. What a night !

Marzy's Pick of The Worcester Music Festival.
Das Sexy Clap, East of the Sun, Calm Like A Riot and Robinson

Exactly what it says on the tin, I'm putting on as many of my favourite bands on as possible throughout the day to celebrate the great success that was this years WMF. Massive congratulations to all involved for making it run so smooth and efficiently.

I among many others were in our elements just strolling around watchicng bands in so many different pubs clubs cafes and workshops all over the City, I just loved being able to stomp from pub to pub seeing bands everywhere - you could be on your way to see a band when you pass an open door and are drawn in to check out something that just grabs your ear, and it was all FREE
Big pat on the back to all WMF staff. xx

Robinson are one of the finest bands on the Worcester Music Scene at the moment. And as we know a lot of their fans are also fans of "Jasper in the Co. of Others" (who would have been playing here too if they hadn't already had a gig on) who are having an EP release the same night just around the corner, so we have got Robinson on stage at 11:15pm because Jasper is finishing at 11pm - so you can stroll around the corner and waltz into the Marrs Bar FREE....!!

East of The Sun have an established presence & wealth of gigs under our belt along with a solid set of powerful, anthemic, tracks. We're totally digging our music, fans, and gigs. They have got loads of musical ex's as you would expect and have built this band from what they feel is the best of all worlds: attitude, skills and experience. East of the Sun were known as Unkle Monty (2008-2011).
Influences include pretty much everything. So in no particular order: Incubus, Foo Fighters, Reef, Stereophonics, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Lost Prophets, Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, Pink Floyd, Keane, Drive By Truckers, Massive Attack, Supergrass, The Blackout, plus many more.... Anything Driving, with big riffs, cool vocals.

Calm Like a Riot spit their fusion of rock, funk and hip-hop with a contagious energy. The Worcester-based band vent their anger in a way you would expect having grown up on the mean, urban streets of middle-class, middle-England. Each night they put across their musical message in such a style that never fails to make the people of Worcestershire look up from their humous and olive ciabatta and take note. Led from the front by their hard talking, hard working lyricist John “Anger Manager”, and ably backed up by Pete, Dan and Mick (Middle Managers), Calm Like a Riot are not afraid to confront the issues of the day. There are wars going on, there is greed, there is global warming and there is injustice and the boys won’t let you leave without telling you what they think. Do we sit back and do nothing while the world faces these problems, or do we write an edgy, rap verse and a catchy chorus on the matter? I know what Calm Like a Riot would do. Calm Like a Riot. Mic in hand, tongue in cheek.

Das Sexy clap we're formed in late 2009 by Chris Wemyss (drummer from And What Will Be Left of Them?, Evilwitch, Girls on Film and JoePatroni) and life long friend Katy Birch. 'My first instrument was the guitar, but quite early on I shifted over to the drums and after years of playing in various bands up and down the UK and various bits of Europe I really wanted get back to my roots on guitar and vocals.
Katy and I had always played music together when we were teenagers and Katy's return to Worcester in 2009 was really the deciding factor in putting 'Das Sexy Clap' together. The idea was to write loud, dirty and catchy songs that we liked and would actually want to listen to ourselves - The louder the better' - Chris Wemyss.
