Trevor Burton was a founder member of the sixties chart topping band The Move, he was with them from 1966 to 1969. When he left in 1969 he stayed down south with his close friend Steve Winwood; Steve had just formed the band Traffic. Trevor decided to chill for a while, but soon got the urge to play live again, this has always been his first love. He got in touch with Steve Gibbons with the view to forming a new band, together with Denny Laine Formerly with the Moody Blues, and Allen White from The Plastic Ono Band. They formed the band called Balls. After the split with Balls in 1971, Trevor spent the next few years as one of the top session musicians with Island Records. St Georges Day Celebrations with Lord Bishop Rocks with support from Scarlet Carmina |
The KINGS of SexRock Larger than life, from New York City, the sensation that is 'LORD BISHOP ROCKS' – The KINGS of SexRock, who whipped up a huge frenzy since 1999. Sonically, its a highly pleasurable hell-raising assault on the senses. (Cool Hendrix Vibes, James Brown Funk, Nirvana Power and Zappa Humour.) Visually its one of the greatest performances you will ever see. The 3 piece is fronted by Lord Bishop – who many are asking - Is this the new Jimi Hendrix? Possibly/Yes, some will say, but in reality, No. For this is Badass black guitarist / singer-songwriter Lord Bishop, and he is like no other. Already established in Europe as a hugely in-demand artist who has risen to give rock music a mighty kiss in the rear, and a veteran of non-stop euro gigs and festivals in the past few years. Lord Bishop is the “black giant” (two meters plus 120 kg) from New York City and with his Sex Rock gang produce a daring and crazy mixture of dirty Rock’n’Roll, Funk, sweat, Soul, sex appeal and power. www.myspace.com/lordbishop Scarlet Carmina formed in 2008 by life-long friends, the band has been penetrating the local scene serving up energetic rock songs and injecting some colour into the lives of their audiences. Having just completed their first demo, they're hungry for bigger stages and wilder crowds. They are fun loving, down-to-earth, love a good drink, and GUARANTEE a free t-shirt to anyone who flashes their tits. They say trhey are really looking forward to supporting Lord Bishop Rocks, and help him make some noise and maybe raise a little hell along the way... www.myspace.com/scarletcarmina £5.00 tickets and £6.00 on the door |

Fred Zeppelin
|
Its worth taking a camera with you to a Fredz gig as you don't know who could be standing next to you. In the audience have been MAGNUM's front-man Bob Catley, WHITESNAKE's guitarist Mel Galley, who attended on recommendation - "Thought I would come and see you, as Robert (Plant) said you were brilliant". Roy Wood legendary main man of THE MOVE & WIZZARD, and SLADES Jimmy Lea was the latest rock celebrity to experience a two-hour Fred Zeppelin gig. Fred Zeppelin were invited by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. Kev (bass) and Blackie (drums) attended and were thrilled to meet and chat with the legendary guitarist. Also at the party were Roger Daltrey, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leo Sayer and Formula One's David Coultard. What a night !! The four members of Fred Zeppelin are real fans, and formed 'The Freds' out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin's music. As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Bonzo. www.thefredz.com £8.00 ticket and £10 on the door |

Groucutt and Haynes
|
'Groucutt and Haynes' Perform both acoustic and with a full band and have been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson, Turin Brakes and Paul Simon. Their music has an upbeat acoustic funk vibe with meaningful lyrics and beautiful harmonies. They use a range of instruments to compliment both guitars, including Saxophone, Flute, Keyboard and African drums (Cajon and Djembe). Having worked with Richie Havens (the artist who opened the first Woodstock) and supported the likes of Elkie Brooks, Ian Parker and Midge Ure these guys are not to be missed. They began their lives as musicians separately, with Robin Groucutt being one half of ambient folk duo 'Corda' while Dan Haynes was busy promoting himself as a singer songwriter. With the pair both playing many of the same bars and clubs around the Midlands gig circuit they would regularly share the stage playing on the same bill. With this occurring and Dan being a huge fan of Rob's writing for 'Corda', the idea of collaborating further seemed too much of a good idea to be overlooked, and so began Groucutt and Haynes… With the new duo formed they really wanted to take everything up a level from anything that they'd been doing previously, so the introduction of the band was hugely important. Saffron Box, the bassist from 'Corda' and drummer Steve Groucutt were the first to get involved and more recently Carrie Pickering, a vocalist and saxophonist has just rounded off their line up. www.groucuttandhaynes.com With unconfirmed support from Rose Hannant Band. Rose, who sings and plays guitar, is accompanied by renowned Worcester musicians Iain Elliot on bass guitar / double bass and Jon Whitbread on drums. www.myspace.com/rosehannantband £4.00 ticket and £5.00 on the door. |
