Sobering Up!!
The first fortnight in January we close every year so we can carry out building maintenance that cannot be done whilst being open, such as treat the mahogany floor, varnish the bar top, strip down the PA system etc. etc. plus everyone is completely partied out and need a little bit of time to pay off their credit cards! One of the good things about it though is that you get to see what life was like before The Marrs Bar opened and ask yourself "How did we manage?" thereby loving us all the more when we re-open on the 12th...... Also, we all pi$$ off to Dublin for our staff do every year (you all wanna work for me now don't you?) So enjoy the break from The Marrs Bar - cos with the help of some celtic charm and lots of Guinness - we will!! |

ZanderZ,
WORCESTER BASED BAND. THE BAND IS FORGED WITH DARK MELODIC FOLK, A HINT OF FUNK AND A BIG SLAB OF ROCK. The ZanderZ were formed in March 2006 when vocalist/bass player tracked down two musical beings for the new project. Bex was formally part of disbanded Worcester group the steaming heads and was searching for members for a new group. The final member who just happened to be a fretboard addict guitarist ,also being a madcap Satan loving pirate , going by the name of captain Tom completed the group. The trio unleashed their unique sounds onto the public, which were perfected in the depths of deepest darkest Worcester. Their style is a fusion of funk and rock often-high energy but occasionally altering to melodic epic feeling tracks. Guaranteed to inspire and intrigue welcome to the world of The ZanderZ . www.myspace.com/thezanderz FREE ADMISSION |

Big Cats and Gunrunner
The first thing to strike you about Big Cats is their singer. Sarah Ditchburn has a fantastic voice and simply loves to use it, throwing herself into songs which many singers would hesitate even to attempt. The result is impressive, and occasionally stunning. Having an unusually talented singer naturally widens the pool from which the band can draw their material. In selecting the songs to cover they have taken pains to avoid the more obvious choices, and have instead gone mainly for songs which, while they are just as well known, are generally less often covered - although they still cant resist dropping a few old favorites in to the mix. The boys (I use the term loosely) in the band are all competent and experienced musicians, whose versatile playing ranges from sensitive and restrained accompaniment to outright rockin' & rollin'. The result is a diverse and entertaining set with a high dancability factor. Big Cat's set list includes songs by Belinda Carlisle, The Corrs, Ocean Colour Scene, The Stereophonics, The Pretenders, Foo Fighters, The Manic Street Preachers, Sheryl Crow, Guns 'n' Roses, Tiffany, Blondie, Cheap Trick, The Police, No Doubt, Pink, The Cure, Boston, Transvision Vamp, the Bangles, Avril Lavigne, Eddie and the Hot Rods, The Knack, U2, The Zutons, Mica, Orson, Queen, The Undertones, George Michael, Joan Jet, The Darkness and more. In fact, in the words of another, more famous big cat, "They're Grrrrrrrrrreat" - and don't forget your dancing shoes! David Ward Maclean
Clydebank-born guitarist and singer David Ward Maclean, now based in York, he has supported John Martyn, John James, Jack Bruce, Ralph McTell, Martin Carthy, Edwina Hayes and Jethro Tull. " On the surface you've got a simple, warm collection of acoustic songs. Burrow a little deeper and it's full of sophistication masquerading as simplicity. In short this is a work of real class.'
